How to Customize the Double-Tap Controls of your Left and Right Air-pods

Air-pods have small design body, but this tiny body is full of so many features and sensors in it. Air-pods contain accelerometer sensor. The Air-pods double tap works using this built-in motion accelerometer. The accelerometer allows the Air-pods to know when you double tap it to activate Siri, play or pause, next or previous track, or off, depending on how you set it up.

Luckily, Apple has brought customizable controls to Air-pods with iOS 11. In iOS 10, the chosen controls being the same for both Air-pods, a user can only select for a double-tap to invoke Siri or play/pause. But with iOS 11 you’re able to assign individual controls options to right and left Air-pod. Now, you can choose specific controls for both left and right Air-pod.

And this is not too tough to do, go through below steps to customize your Air-pods shortcuts and to assign specific controls to each Air-pod.

Double-tap  the options that you can assign to your Air-pod:

  1. Activate Siri.
  2. Play and Pause Track.
  3. Next or Previous Track.
  4. And, Off.

How to customize the double-tap controls of your left and right Air-pods

  1. Connect your Air-pods with your iPhone.
  2. Open ‘Settings’ on your iPhone.
  3. Open ‘Bluetooth.’
  4. Tap ‘More Option or info button’ of your Air-pods name.
  5. Select ‘Left’ or ‘Right’ according to you under ‘Double-Tap on Air-pods’ section.
  6. Choose from the available double-tap options.
  7. Do same for other Air-pod. You can select different or the same double-tap options for each Air-pod.

Once you customized successfully, you will be able to use new double-tap shortcuts on your Air-pods.

To disable the double-tap controls of your Air-pods

Sometimes, this feature may irritate you if you accidentally double-tap your Air-pods and this cause track change, pause song, or activate Siri. So, there is also an option to disable the feature on either or both Air-pods.

  1. Connect your Air-pods with your iPhone.
  2. Open ‘Settings’ on your iPhone.
  3. Open ‘Bluetooth.’
  4. Tap ‘More Option or info button’ of your Air-pods name.
  5. Select ‘Left’ or ‘Right’ according to you under ‘Double-Tap on Air-pods’ section.
  6. Tap ‘Off.’
